The whole adventure started in 1972 when three young men, Odd Strand, Ole Paulsen og Bjørn Paulsen, took the scaffolding department out of the walls – and the painting companies they ran. Today, 50 years later, StS has developed into an organization with 560 employees from 8 different nationalities, stationed in 2 countries with business activity in 10 countries!
ISONOR Industrier
It all started in 1979 (formerly Norisol Norge) and in 2019 ISONOR Industrier celebrated its 40th anniversary. ISONOR Industrier has established itself as a leading Norwegian supplier of insulation, surface treatment, scaffolding and architectural services with its head office in Skien and branch offices in Stavanger, Drammen and Kristiansand.

1972
The establishment
When Odd Strand discovered the new steel scaffolding system that came to Norway, he discovered how much easier and safer this could make his working day. He was the first in Western Norway to focus on the new system, and shortly afterwards, in March 1972, he formed the company AS Stillas Service, which laid the foundation for today’s company, StS.
1977
The Cooperation with Aker Stord starts
StS has been a permanent supplier of scaffolding and rope-access services, truck drivers, crane operators, riggers and transport personnel to the Stord yard since 1977.
1980
The start of StS and CCB cooperation
Since 1980, StS has been the sole supplier of special services on rigs that have had their annual maintenance on ‘Coast Center Base’ until today. In these assignments, StS has performed significant work within all ISS professions.
1983
Pioneers in Scaffolding
The transition from heavy steel to light aluminum scaffolding in 1983, is characterized as a pioneer initiative in the industry.
1990s
Consolidation and modernization
Stillasservice ventured into the nineties with employees at a bare minimum, and lacking significant contracts. But the company had reached the age of majority and would soon experience better times.
1994
Rope Access technology (RAT) and industrial climbing
In 1994, the trade union was expanded to include industrial rope access personnel. It was the first step on the way to a multidisciplinary business.The company Nor Tek is established. The purpose was to specialize personnel to perform work with climbing techniques.
1997
First habitat
The development of StS Flexible Habitat solution came to fruition by a challenge we were given by Hydro (now Statoil) and Aibel. Could StS engineer and construct a re-usable habitat system which was safe, quick to erect and versatile?

Njord
StS has followed the Njord A platform throughout the entire life cycle. We have provided ISS services in addition to industrial rope access and welding habitat over the years.
2000s
The modern StS takes shape
The service range is expanded with Surface and Insulation upon acquisition of ‘Technical Isolation’ and ‘KSK corrosion’. This was in line with a strategy to develop the company into a global supplier within the ISS subjects.
2002
First automatic shutdown system
The oil companies and contractors wanted a more complex system, with focus on eliminating the human factor, and conduct the hot work in as safely a manner as possible.
2003
First ISS contract
Maintenance & modification assignments offshore in charge of scaffolding / rope access technique, rigging, insulation, surface treatment, passive fire protection and engineering.
2007
Subsidiary in the UK
The first overseas establishment is a fact. September 1, CEO Paul Hancock officially opened the doors of StS Resources & Technology Ltd. In Middlesbrough.
2010s
Exciting assignments
The 2010s can be summed up with exciting challenges such as the low-pressure project at Oseberg Feltsenter, the Mongstad contract with Statoil, the Johan Sverdrup contract with Aibel and StS's 40th anniversary.
2011
StS focuses on NDT
In mid-April, Anko AS and StS Engineering signed an agreement to acquire Ankos NDT business. The acquisition marks a long-term strengthening of the company’s NDT commitment.

Development of insulation products
StS launches the brand name AnsaTekt, which is a common name of all prefabricated insulation products. In addition to products with fire-insulating properties, the ansaTekt series also includes prefabricated products within cold insulation, thermal and acoustic insulation, exhaust and personnel protection.
2012
40th anniversary
For 40 years, StS has focused on the protection of material and human values, work with health, safety and environment, as well as the development of industry standards for insulation, scaffolding and surface treatment.

Njord
In 2012, ‘Statoil’ implemented a comprehensive maintenance and modification campaign at ‘Njord A’. ‘StS Group’ assisted in changing the deck frame. During the project period, 170 ‘StS Group’ operators were in rotation with work on insulation, scaffolding and surface, access technique, work management and coordination of activities on board.
2013-2014
Mongstad
StS pioneered in using technical solutions together developed with our loyal suppliers, like Pinovo, Stopaq a.o. The contract was performed at unit rates and gave StS important experience with this compensation format for future projects.

Oseberg Sør
Lifeboat change of 3 of lifeboats at Oseberg Sør. Work carried out in collaboration with Odfjell Drilling Technology and Schat Harding.
2015
Johan Sverdrup
Performance of the entire scaffolding-scope during the fabrication and construction of the Johan Sverdrup Drilling Platform at Aibels Yard in Haugesund.
2016
Ivan Crane
The assignment has been very varied with bolt shifting throughout the wreath tower, removal and installation of electrical cables and removal of engines on top.

Njord
Njord returns to Stord after 20 years in operation.
2017
Dvalin
StS contract with Aibel for scaffolding services for the Dvalin project.
2018
Haven
The leg extension project for Haven is a pioneer project in Europe. The scope has never previously been performed outside the Middle East.
2019
Neptune Energy
In December 2018, StS signed a ISS contract with Neptune Energy Norge AS for Operations & Maintenance on the Gjøa platform.
2020
Strengthening the product range
The StS group takes over Bilfinger's Lambda products; Jackets, PPS (Pipe Penetration Seal) and Boltcare.

Nordnes sjøbad
In connection with the 110th anniversary of Nordnes sea bath, StS built an extra high diving tower.The anniversary was celebrated with a diving show and death diving.

Business development
According to our stratefy, StS shall be the No. 1 challenger to the ISS suppliers in Norway within Oil and Gas. ISS is an abbreviation for Insulation, Scaffolding and Surface Protection. Over the past year, StS has secured several important ISS contracts and is on the right track in relation to our strategic goals.

Vår Energi
ISONOR Industrier has in collaboration with StS been awarded the ISO contract for all of Vår Energi’s installations, Goliat, Balder, Ringhorne and Jotun A.
2021
Jotun A
The production vessel Jotun FPSO has been producing oil from the Balder field in the North Sea since 1999. The ship is at dry dock for upgrading at Rosenberg Worley in Stavanger. The project marks the start of the life extension of the Balder field in the North Sea.

Al Masaiid Oil and Gas
StS gruppen signs exclusive agency agreement with Al Masaood Oil and Gas for promotion of welding habitats and its related ATEX products and services for the UAE market.
