About the project
The Jotun Vessel is under reconstruction, and during this, the entire "Main bearing" on the turret shall have passive fire protection to withstand a potential jet fire scenario. This task has required significant engineering and documentation to satisfy the strict requirements set for the project.
3rd party evaluations have been carried out by DNV for verification of the products sustainability for the required loads in the project.
Our solution is to construct panels adapted to the internal circumference of the "main bearing" and bolt size for direct attachment to the flange. These panels have been insulated with X3M-mat and Favuseal, a solution we use in our easyFLEX fireboxes. This provides a space-saving solution that can be mounted close to the element it is to protect and withstands the forces from a 250Kw/m2 jet fire with blast load up to 0.8 bar. A solution we will consider offering for structural Passive Fire Protection on other projects in the future.
Prefabrication of this is has been done at our location in Skien and erected on-site by our very capable personnel.
In addition to this we will add PFP solutions on risers, ESD-valves, multiple pipelines and equipment when Jotun is back on drillsite.
